Public Relations Writing Samples

Written in my Advanced Newswriting course, this piece was meant to showcase the type of writing used for a more local "hometown style" type of publication.

I chose to focus on the candle company a girl from my hometown started.

Written in my Editing course, this piece was meant to serve as a final paper with the theme of a "campus news story." Because we were still dealing with the aftermath of COVID and its impact on the "normal" world we once knew, I chose to focus on how the pandemic impacted specific clubs on campus.

Written in my Beginning Newswriting course, this piece was used as an introduction to sports writing. The class was to watch an interview with Sarah Murray, head coach for Women's Hockey at Saint Mary's, and write a press release

based upon the video.

Written in my Advanced Newswriting course, this piece was meant to address a current topic and investigate its pros and cons. This assignment was difficult for me, as I had to put aside my

preconceived ideas and opinions about CAFOs in order to write objectively.

Written in my Editing course, this piece was meant to serve as a midterm assignment and had to be connected to COVID in some way. I personally dealt with mental health issues because of the pandemic, so I chose to focus on the mental health aspect of the pandemic. Since writing this in Spring 2021, I'm sure multiple statistics could be updated if I have the chance to continue this type of interview/research.

Written in my Public Relations Writing course, this piece served as my final exam for the class. I was instructed to write a press release, pitch letter, and position paper on a randomly chosen topic. My topic was the keeping of exotic/wild animals as pets

Written in my Campaigns and Case Studies course, this piece was created over a semester's time. I was to use the "ROPE" method to create a campaign for a chosen client, researching, developing objectives, programming, and analyzing my "campaign." Because I was already doing an internship in the Student Success Center (SSFGIC), I chose to go above and beyond and use them as my client as well.
